Uno montho oldo

Rosabel - or, as Ivy pronounces it, Whoopadoo - is a whole month post-natal today. Well done Whoopy Walton. She still dabbles in the odd bit of thumb-sucking; it's just social, of course, nothing serious.

Marsupial Chef

Bel helps her Ma roll the dough. It's Ailsa's prize pizza for dinner. Harumble! No, I do not need a tray.

Happy Birthday Uncle Carol!

...and now the twins will eat the cakes they made to celebrate Uncle Carl's birthday. I may also indulge. Get the kettle on, Lurky.

Please note the beautiful cake-stand:  a creation of our dear friend, Mrs Harrison.  It is a bricolage of charity-shop crockery, old and ancient, lovingly re-crafted into this postmodern homage to the great tradition of the British, baking, Grandma.  It was certainly a smashing Christmas present.  Super glue is a wonderful thing.

"Unborn twins interact in the womb at 14 weeks gestation!"

An extract from a brilliant twin studies article:

"Umberto Castiello of the University of Padova, Italy published a report in the online journal Public Library of Science One (PLoS One) in October showing unborn babies have the ability to interact as early as 14 weeks into the pregnancy...

“We conclude that performance of movements towards the co-twin is not accidental: already starting from the 14th week of gestation twin fetuses execute movements specifically aimed at the co-twin,” Castiello’s team wrote..."

Weigh-in #4

Another health visitor has just left; Rosabel now weighs 8 lbs, 4 ! That's a whole pound in a couple of weeks!! Then again, she's certainly not the only Walton to gain 14% body weight over the 12 days of Christmas - oh, sorry, did I say 12? I beg your pardon, bishops, I clearly meant - what did they pick out for this year? Oh yes - 8.
