At three and a half weeks old, little Rosabel now weighs 8lbs,10. Violet was SIX MONTHS OLD when she got to this weight! See this post from March 2009:

Weigh-in #4

Another health visitor has just left; Rosabel now weighs 8 lbs, 4 ! That's a whole pound in a couple of weeks!! Then again, she's certainly not the only Walton to gain 14% body weight over the 12 days of Christmas - oh, sorry, did I say 12? I beg your pardon, bishops, I clearly meant - what did they pick out for this year? Oh yes - 8.

Weighty Walton

Another Weighty Walton (tautological, perhaps, but worth emphasising nevertheless).
Rosabel was supposed to lose a bit of weight - apparently it's some sort of polite custom for full-termingtons - but, no doubt due to her recusant inheritance, she has, so far, subverted this established, enlighteniment principle at every opportunity, preferring instead to gain several ounces for the occasion of each weigh-in... the midwives squint suspiciously at a rather empty-looking metre-long box of Jaffa Cakes leaning against the piano... This morning Rosabel was a very generous 7lb 10. By my reckoning, bearing in mind inflation & global warming, this means Rosabel will have overtaken Violet in weight by June 14th 2011, just in time for elevenses.

New Baby :-)
Rosabel Mary Ethel Walton was born at 05:41 am, Sunday 19th December 2010, weighing 7lbs,4ish (3.3kg). She was one week early, which is novel.
Mother and baby are very well, it was a lovely birth (not too painful for me, any way). Daddy needs decent coffee; the RLI cafeteria doesn't serve Atkinson's - I'll put a note in the suggestion box.
Rosabel is very beautiful. She has black hair like many Walton babies, and big feet like her mother! She came out all squashed and stretched (from suction (which is an amazing thing (more like a bath-plug than a toilet-plunger))) but has quickly re-morphed into little baby-girl shape.
Deo Gratias!

HAPPY NINE MONTHS IvY & ViOLET!
The monkeys have now been out of the womb for as long as they should have stayed in! And what beautiful monkeys they are. Ivy is now getting on for 13 pounds and Violet for 11; they're both sitting up with little help and can stand very well with assitance; they have very different eating styles (Ivy takes quite a... dynamic approach; Violet is sensibly measured) and dancing styles (Violet does some incredible, balletic, leg work and Ivy is more of gymnast/slash/head-banger). Anyway, sorry for the lack of posts, it's been a bit crazy with the heat lately - who needs sleep when there's good weather?! - and some of us have had a few examinations. Bearing in mind the latter, I'm felling a little drained of imagination and vocabulary; so if anyone has any caption suggestions for the following photographs we'd be very grateful :-)

Being the birth & death day of old Bill,
I shallst relate in pentametric verse:
Eleven pounds and eight the latter was,
the former nine and seven, catching up.
But they're not the only ones getting big.
Their parents have of late been growing too,
indulging in a stream of cho co late;
('if chocolate be the food of love, eat on')
paddling in a flowing river of cake;
swimming in a resevoir of biscuit;
diving the depths of an ocean of cheese;
cruising the seas of awful metaphor.
and so on and so forth et-cetera.

swimming in a resevoir of biscuit;
diving the depths of an ocean of cheese;
cruising the seas of awful metaphor.
and so on and so forth et-cetera.
Please forgive th'unsubtle lack of rhyme,
I would have tried but for a lack of t...
